Butter Cookies
The following butter cookie recipes are very easy to make. Even if your kitchen / baking experience is limited, you’ll be able to whip these up without a hitch.
Classic Butter Cookies
Ingredients
2 ¾ cups of all purpose flour
1 tsp of baking soda
1 cup of softened butter
1 ½ cups white sugar
1 tsp of vanilla extract
½ tsp of baking powder
1 egg
2 bowls
Directions
Begin by preheating the oven to 375 degrees F (190 C). Put the flour, baking soda and baking powder in a bowl. Stir them well. Get another bowl. Mix the sugar and butter there until it becomes creamy. Beat and add the egg. Add the vanilla extract.
Blend the dry ingredients into the mix. Shape the dough into balls. Put them on an ungreased cookie sheet. For this butter cookie recipe, the baking time is 8 to 10 minutes. After baking, let it cool for 2 minutes before setting them on the wire racks.
Butter Cookies with Molasses
Ingredients
2 cups white sugar
1 tsp of salt
1 tbsp of butter
4 tsp baking soda
1 1/2 cups shortening
1/2 cup molasses
2 tsp of ground cinnamon
1 tsp of ground ginger
1 tsp of ground cloves
Directions
Melt the shortening. Let it cool. Add the molasses, eggs and sugar. Beat it well. Next, sift the flour, cinnamon, cloves, baking soda and ginger. Combine this with the molasses. Stir the mixture until they are well mixed.
Keep the dough in the fridge for at least 3 hours (overnight preferred). To make this butter cookie recipe, preheat the oven to 375 F (190 C). Remove the dough from the fridge. Shape them into balls. Put the balls on a baking sheet each 2 inches apart. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes for soft and chewy cookies; bake for 12 to make them crisper.
Walnut Butter Cookies
Ingredients
1 egg white
1 tbsp ground cinnamon
1 egg yolk
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup butter
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup of white sugar
1/2 cup margarine
Directions
Preheat the oven 350 F (175 C). For this butter cookie recipe, you need a 15 x 10 jellyroll pan and grease it. Pour the sugar, butter and margarine in a bowl. Mix it until smooth and add the egg yolk. Stir and add the vanilla.
Add the flour, half a teaspoon of cinnamon and the salt. Stir it. Pour this into pan. Beat the egg whites. When it is frothy, spread it over the dough. Pour some more sugar, cinnamon, and walnuts over it.
Bake it for 17 minutes in the oven. Cut while it is still warm. Let it cool and remove from the pan.
French Cookies
Ingredients
7 eggs
2 lbs dark brown sugar
1 lb butter
6 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tbsp vanilla extract
Directions
Mix the brown sugar and butter until they become creamy. Add the vanilla and eggs. Stir the flour in. Put the bowl over a hot water bath. Blend the ingredients. Shape into balls and cook in an electric galette iron for 30 seconds.
